R.I.P. Mr. Pollack

Another great one leaves us. Director of such masterpieces as The Way We Were and Out of Africa, Sydney Pollack dies of Cancer at the age of 73.

Avery nice tribute to his life and career at NYT:
Sydney Pollack’s career as a director blossomed in the 1960s and ’70s, but in many ways he was a throwback to an earlier era in American movies....

we sat next to him up in the ucla medical center when we went for a 4d ultrasound, which for some reason was part of the oncology wing... i guess so they can 4d tumors. he was talking on the phone about how he was finally able to keep down some liquids that morning so we figured he was very sick and/or on chemo.

seemed like a kool kat.
