It took awhile for the shit to hit the Idol fan, but it finally is. The contestant this season with a big ol' skeleton in his closet is... David Hernandez, who was a stripper. He apparently showed it all off, too. (Pictures anyone? Hello???) The 24-year-old finalist from Glendale, Ariz., once worked as a stripper at Dick's Cabaret, appearing fully nude and performing lap dances for the club's "mostly male" clientele, club manager Gordy Bryan said Monday. "He had the look and the type that people like, so he made pretty good money here," Bryan said. It's not clear whether a history as a stripper could disqualify Hernandez from the competition. In 2003, finalist Frenchie Davis was dismissed because of her appearance on an adult Web site; but last year, Antonella Barba remained in the competition after racy photos of her surfaced on the Internet....Hernandez steadily worked at the club for three years until September 30, 2007....Hernandez has never been referred to as a stripper or former stripper during the Fox singing competition. He better get disqualified, or that's a big friggin' pink elephant in the room they're gonna hafta explain away. If previous contestants got the boot for similar pasts, then he's gotta go, too.

Antonella was not DQ'd, but was voted off right after her pictures were leaked. (And who knows if TPTB fudged the numbers to get her gone... yep, I'm a conspiracy theorist.) The big difference between Frenchie and Antonella is that Frenchie took her clothes off for money, while Antonella's pics were personal and were leaked by a "friend." Going by the same criteria, I do think David H should be DQ'd, because he stripped for money. I've heard some call for disqualification because he's gay, which would be utterly ridiculous because he's pretty obviously not the only one.
i thought the same, until melissa reminded me of that thug scott savol -- who beat up his gf and had a criminal record -- yet stayed in the competish until like the top 5 or something... so, in hindsight -- stripping is def less a threat.
however, if frenchie hadda go for doing basically the same thing, then this is a double standard that bugs me.
